Musée Berbère Jarsin Majorelle. The Berber tribesmen are so resourceful and full of ancient mysteries.

I loved the place and have wanted to paint a portrait in honour of these amazing people.

Painted in many layers using spray paint, acrylic, oil, and gold leaf. It's a thick paint in some places.

I wanted to mix the abstract with portraiture using a loose brush technique to keep movement in the painting.

There is the suggestion of his tattoo, family, and the circles not only representing the boxing ring lights but also circles of life ⭕️

Inspired from the jazz and blues artists.

I saw Nina Simone in concert in London in the late 80s. A woman who walked on stage using a cane to steady herself, the silence of the auditorium. She didn't talk or say anything much, she didnt look very happy or sad either, very unimpressed with her audience. She carried a strong presence.

She sat at the piano and tinkered with a few keys and teased the crowd. Within minuets of playing, the theatre exploded into life. Her deep dark soulful voice, her fingers on the piano, and her energy lifted the entire room. I have never felt so inspired by music before. ‘Nina Rising’ is my definition of the phenoix rising from the fire.

I decided to paint a portrait of King Charles III on an old cupboard door I found washed up on the beach. I thought this represented both his green environmental ideas (as he is respected among the environmental advocates) and also demonstrates his passion for architecture and planning.

This piece is called "Opening the Door to a new era" On becoming the King of the United Kingdom, his upcoming coronation on May 6th 2023 , he can now play a more active role in creating his vision of what modern-day Britain will look like.

Tribute to HRH Queen Elizabeth II

In my opinion, she was a woman exceptional in many areas. First, a royal leader to break new boundaries and change history. She was an inspiration, coming to the thrown at a young age, she maintained elegance and dignity, consistent in both ruling and managing the royal family.

She offered unconditional love as only a parent knows, it doesn't matter what position one holds, life always throws curve balls.

I'm sure she will be missed for a very long time to come. A pillar of the Royal family household and one who has left a huge hole in many of her people's hearts.

I chose to paint her portrait in profile to represent the importance of the pound coin. The Stirling pound is considered a key currency with particular importance in international trade.

I also chose the gold abstract background and frame to represent the crown, royalty and richness of the monarchy with the fragmented Union Jack spilling out onto the graffiti frame, an abstract style to represent many nations and cultures who all live together in the UK and her London streets.

Although I chose not to paint her in her regal clothing and jewels, I did want to show her in a strong portrait. She was a proud, woman who carried herself with a firm yet soft, confident expression.

Beautiful blue soft eyes which often to me revealed an inner power of strong determination love and passion for her family and country. She was an amazing monarch ❤️ love and respect.

Even when I'm travelling, I like to sketch. This little piece is a 2-hour oil sketch of the amazing Mr Jimmy Hendrix.
