This piece was an interesting start to a style I am enjoying at the moment.
I am often asked what my process/preparation for a piece is.
Once I have an idea for a painting, I spend time researching the suitable model or expression to express my feelings or tell the story, this could be found in many forms from live models, photographs or observational sketches.
I then play digitally with them, on my computer which often becomes my sketchbook.
This is also the time I like to experiment with paint techniques, as many of you know I love mixed media and often don’t follow any rules with materials.
Once I feel I have an understanding of the piece, I then take the work to canvas or board. While working on a painting, I often change direction and welcome happy accidents that regularly occur in the process.
